When my husband and I decide on a getaway, we often find ourselves returning to Mercure hotels. We’ve enjoyed our stays in Mercure Sapporo and Mercure Kyoto, always finding the blend of location and service to be spot-on. Our recent visit to Mercure Tokyo Ginza was another win in our travel book. It’s right in the middle of Tokyo, making it super easy to check out Ginza and other cool spots in the city.
Mercure Tokyo Ginza sits in a bustling area known for shopping. You can walk from the hotel to big attractions like the famous Kabuki-za Theater, the Imperial Palace, and the Ginza Wako. Plus, getting around Tokyo is a breeze with subway access right there. The JR Yurakucho Station was also within a few minutes walk from the hotel which expanded the transportation options.
Each Mercure hotel has its theme. We found the artistic decorations and creative interiors very charming. In this case, walking into the hotel felt like we’d stepped into a story about Ginza itself. The lobby and rooms have cool touches that remind you of the area’s history, like shelves that look like boutique displays and neat lighting that makes you think of gas lamps. Starting the day with breakfast at the hotel’s bistro is a treat, with yummy smoothies and a variety of breads and pastries to choose from.
The hotel rooms have been updated and are comfortable. You can choose from different types of rooms, but all of them come with comfy beds, bathtubs, safes, quiet windows, free Wi-Fi, and nice bathroom goodies. Even with our large suitcases, we have plenty of space to relax and stretch out in the room.
The hotel has some handy features, like a shuttle service to the airport, a 24-hour front desk where you can exchange currency, massage services in your room, and quick laundry service. And, of course, there’s speedy free Wi-Fi throughout.
Eating at the hotel’s bistro, Le Bistrot de l’Echanson, is a highlight. They serve both Western dishes and Japanese favorites, and there’s a bar for enjoying a drink or two. Many guests, including us, think the breakfast buffet here is the best they’ve had in Japan. You may try our favorite French bistro Pont du Gard nearby.
In all, staying at Mercure Tokyo Ginza felt just right. It wasn’t just a place to sleep; it felt like a part of our Tokyo adventure. It’s perfectly placed for getting to know the city, offering both comfort and a peek into Tokyo’s culture. If you’re planning a trip to Tokyo, consider making Mercure Tokyo Ginza your home base. It’s an ideal spot to experience the best of what this amazing city has to offer.
