While searching for the perfect spot to celebrate Bill’s birthday, I stumbled upon this restaurant in Ginza, Tokyo – ESqUISSE. The photos of their dishes were simple yet elegant and caught my eye immediately. Little did we know this Michelin two-star French restaurant would provide an experience we’d never forget.
The restaurant’s atmosphere was both classy and inviting. The dim lighting and tasteful décor set a peaceful and sophisticated tone. We were warmly greeted by the staff and soon found ourselves seated at a cozy table, eagerly anticipating our meal.
The meal kicked off with an amuse-bouche, a small but delightful appetizer that teased our taste buds and hinted at the culinary artistry to come. Each following course was a masterpiece, showcasing the chef’s remarkable skills and creativity.
One dish that particularly stood out for me was the grilled Ayu (sweetfish). The presentation was stunning, as if the Ayu was gracefully swimming on the plate right in front of me. Another highlight was the main course: perfectly cooked wagyu beef, accompanied by a delicious, flavorful sauce. The dish was beautifully decorated in a festive and elegant manner, adding to the overall dining experience.
Our experience was further elevated by the sommelier’s expert wine pairings. With an impressive knowledge of the menu and an intuitive sense of which wines would best complement each dish, the sommelier guided us through a selection of both local and international labels. Each wine was thoughtfully chosen, adding another layer of enjoyment to our meal.
What truly set ESqUISSE apart was the exceptional service. The French manager, personable and charming, visited our table to explain each dish in detail, sharing insights about the ingredients and the inspiration behind them. The staff was not only attentive but also warm and friendly, making us feel like welcomed guests rather than just patrons. Their passion for their work was evident and added a personal touch that made our dining experience even more special.
